The Dyce project has come to an end and here is the final result. The cd has been released and is available for sale here. The project consisted in the election of four composers, each one representing a region of Europe. João Ceitil was selected to represent the green region, which includes Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands.

First video released. Thinking Modular is a compilation of videos, where the concept of feedback loop is deeply explored. It’s an introductory video, where João Ceitil demonstrates the way he thinks about Modular Synthesizers. João Ceitil refers to the concept of modularity, as a non-linear construction. The central idea is to design circuits, in which the various components or modules that constitute it, are part of a chain of connections that affect each other through the introduction of feedback.

Post-Paradise is a grassroots experimental music concert series run by a collective of composers [Zach Dawson, Richard Stenton and Maya Verlaak] based in Birmingham, UK.

As part of its fourth season, Post-Paradise established a partnership with iii. As result of this partnership, Maya Verlaak will curate one edition of Post Paradise at the iii workspace in The Hague. Each Post-Paradise event is carefully curated with the work of three composers. For June 6th we invited The Hague based composers Daniil Pilchen, Sól Ey and João Ceitil to create new work for this event.

The MAZE Ensemble from Amsterdam plays four new works that use interactive scores and new media. Such as an interactive game in a virtual desert created by Emile Frankel, and a score based on a colourful, virtual 3D cube by João Ceitil. Pieces that give the relationship between composer and performer a whole new interpretation.

Every year the Nieuw Ensemble presents An Evening of Today . Young composers – master students and alumni of the conservatories of Amsterdam and The Hague – are given a free hand to write a work for the Nieuw Ensemble. The composers are encouraged to use the rich technical, acoustic and spatial possibilities of the Muziekgebouw, in which the imagination is central.

João Ceitil was invited to participate in the EuroArts 2018 festival in Brussels. He wrote a piece with the name of Offing. For more details about the concert please follow here.

João Ceitil represented Portugal at the 62ND INTERNATIONAL ROSTRUM OF COMPOSERS.

ChacoN by João Ceitil received a recommendation from the International Music Council, in the general category.

Fantasie is a musical piece for Clarinet in Bb. This piece was part of the mandatory repertoire of the Young Musicians Prize in 2014.
